Application Requirements
An applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics (or a closely related field) from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on the last 90 quarter or 60 semester credits. A complete application portfolio includes:
- a statement of purpose,
- an official transcript,
- a curriculum vitae, and
- three letters of recommendation.
We recommend that at least one letter is written by a current or former professor who is familiar with the applicant’s academic ability. If the applicant seeks a Graduate Student Appointment (see below), we recommend that one letter address teaching experience and potential. Unfortunately, our program is unable to waive the application fee.
GRE scores are not required at this time. However, non-native English speaking applicants are required to document their English proficiency. Applicants may also email an unofficial transcript to math@ewu.edu for the purpose of evaluating equivalent transfer courses to satisfy prerequisites for the graduate courses offered.
Eastern Washington University is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty, staff, students, and academic program offerings and to strengthening sensitivity to diversity throughout the institution. Eastern Washington University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and applications from members of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.
