Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructors Job Description

Pay rate:

-$35/hour with bachelors in dental hygiene and registered hygienist in WA
-$40/hour with bachelors in dental hygiene, masters in related field and registered hygienist in WA
May become eligible for benefits after 6 months.

Primary responsibilities of the dental hygiene clinical instructor are:

-Model professionalism in all manners of conduct and presentation.
-Follow the same requirements for dress code, piercings, hair, shoes, PPE, etc. as the students in the course they are instructing.
-Be familiar with clinic course syllabi, particularly with regards to clinic requirements by accepting enrollment and reviewing documents in appropriate CANVAS courses.
-Use CANVAS learning management system for student assessment and grading.
Utilize iPad and or laptop computers for clinical and laboratory assessment and grading.
-Be knowledgeable of the content in the Clinic Policies and Procedures Manual, providing suggestions for future editions of the manual.
-Be prompt in attending assigned clinical sessions.
-Assist students in supervising clinic check in and check out procedures in a timely manner.
-Be responsible for planning and implementing assigned stations for clinic workshops.
-Provide written and oral feedback to students, evaluating their clinical performance in an objective and positive manner.
-Interact with the students and patients for the benefit of the patient’s oral health care.
-Attend regularly scheduled faculty in-service meetings.
-Regularly receive training in educational methodologies.

Required qualifications:

-Meet annual continuing education requirements for re-licensure (i.e. 15 hours continuing education/year). Provide instruction utilizing current scientific methods and principles.
-Maintain current certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (at least every two years), providing the operations manager with a copy of the certification.
-Maintain current Washington State Dental Hygiene license, providing the operations manager with a copy of the license.
-Document compliance with hepatitis B vaccination or sign a declination form.
-Maintain current membership in one’s professional association (i.e. American -Dental Hygienists’ Association, American Dental Association)- PREFERRED
-Document yearly tuberculosis skin testing or sign a declination form
