EWU\u2019s annual Senior Send-off procession \u2014 in which graduating seniors reverse course through the Herculean Pillars they traversed as incoming freshman \u2014 took on particular poignancy this spring. These seniors were members of the so-called \u201ccovid class\u201d of 2024. Each began their Eastern journey during lock-down, a time when remote learning and event restrictions replaced typical classroom and campus interactions \u2014 including the tradition of incoming students \u201cpassing through the pillars.\u201d Nicole Aguilar, 22, a communications major from Alaska, was among the seniors at the send-off event. \u201cI didn\u2019t enter through the pillars, so this was surreal,\u201d Aguilar said. \u201cI\u2019m so glad we were able to experience it going out.\u201d Photo by Luke Kenneally.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
