{"id":1653,"date":"2023-01-13T21:21:57","date_gmt":"2023-01-13T21:21:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-www.ewu.edu\/magazine\/?post_type=stories&#038;p=1653"},"modified":"2023-01-17T20:45:32","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T20:45:32","slug":"excellence-and-inclusion","status":"publish","type":"stories","link":"https:\/\/test-www.ewu.edu\/magazine\/news\/excellence-and-inclusion\/","title":{"rendered":"Excellence and Inclusion"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 class=\"p1\">EWU introduces a welcoming new center for community and collaboration.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">F<\/span><span class=\"s1\">or years Kim Davis, the senior director for diversity and inclusion at EWU, envisioned the creation of a safe, welcoming space where campus professionals might come together to learn with, and from, one another.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Now, thanks in part to $150,000 in funding from the state legislature, that vision is a reality.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1654\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1654\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid wp-image-1654 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/test-www.ewu.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/01\/KimOffc-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test-www.ewu.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/01\/KimOffc-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/test-www.ewu.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/01\/KimOffc.jpg 525w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1654\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">EWU&#8217;s Kim Davis<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s2\">Following its completion in October, EWU\u2019s new Center for Inclusive Excellence has established itself as what Davis has hailed as \u201ca community space to foster and promote faculty and staff professional and personal development in relation to diversity, equity and inclusion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s2\">The center, located in Showalter Hall, features comfortable seating, a library of books and educational resources, movable tables for meetings and gatherings, a Zoom setup equipped with audio and video, and beautiful art created by EWU student Ryan Van Meter.
