100 Women+ Strong

What is 100 Women+ Strong?

The 100 Women+ Strong program is dedicated to diversifying the fields of computer science, data science, and engineering by recruiting, retaining, and rewarding students from under-represented populations who pursue degrees in these areas. CSTEM will provide mentoring, scholarships, leadership and career development to empower EWU students who contribute to making these professions more inclusive.

Eastern Washington University expands opportunities for personal transformation through excellence in learning. Learning happens in a variety of settings, and some of the most transformational learning happens outside the classroom.

100 Women+ Strong in Computing & Engineering is an innovative and dynamic program that empowers all students to achieve scholarly success and prepares them to thrive in inclusive careers.

These diverse professionals will make their mark in the growing engineering and technology careers in Eastern Washington and beyond!

Transforming Lives

Shannon Kellam, ’19, received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from EWU—all while attending classes full time, serving as the president of the Rocketry Club, and raising two children as a single mother.

As if that weren’t enough, Kellam also helped build a 3D-printed prosthetic arm for Spokane fifth-grader Isaiah Strom. She worked with her professors to design, shape, print and string the prostheses. The skills she learned made her ready to hit the job market at Lamb Weston as an Associate Engineer.

But more importantly, she transformed a life.
