Microsoft & Intuit Certifications

QuickBooks Certified User

Accounting firms are seeking qualified candidates proficient in Intuit QuickBooks. With technological advances, today’s accountants act as small business advisors and are required to make faster and better decisions from the readily available data. Students prepare for and take the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU) Online certification exam in ACCT 323: Accounting Software and Certification. Students will develop their technological communication skills, understand how to develop new workplace documents using Intuit QuickBooks, and contain the knowledge to support both the firm’s and clients’ QuickBooks accounts.

The following QBCU exams are currently available through EWU’s Testing Center:

  • QBCU Online–US Version
  • QBCU Online–Global Version
  • QBCU Desktop–2017
  • QBCU Desktop–2016
  • QBCU Desktop–2015
  • QBCU Desktop–2014

Microsoft Office Specialist

The Professional Accounting department offers ACCT 425: Business Computer Applications for Accountants as an elective option to help students be successful in the accounting workplace.

Through active learning, this course provides business students with the opportunity to gain broadly applicable Microsoft Office application skills most frequently used in today’s accounting profession. Students develop and manipulate documents, worksheets, and presentations utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students demonstrate proficiency by taking the most current Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam for each application listed.

The Business and Marketing Education department offers a similar course, BUED 425: Workplace Communications Using Computer Applications. This course teaches electronic communications in Microsoft Office products while preparing students to take MOS exams.

Students may not take both ACCT 425 and BUED 425.

The following MOS exams are currently available through EWU’s Testing Center:

Purchasing Exam Vouchers (Receipts)

Each exam attempt requires a voucher to be purchased before a student may take a MOS1 exam or a QBCU2 exam. MOS exam vouchers cost $50 each (EWU’s discounted rate) for current EWU students. QBCU exam vouchers cost $100 each (EWU’s discounted rate) for current EWU students. Vouchers may be purchased the day of an exam.

Steps to Pay for your Exam

  1. Visit Use EWU Marketplace.
  2. Select “College of Business”
  3. Choose “MOS Certification Exam”, “QuickBooks Certification Exam” or “Retake – QuickBooks Certification Exam.”
  4. Follow the payment steps.
  5. Print voucher/receipt & bring it to a scheduled testing session with EWU ID Card & Certiport username and password.

 

MOS Exam Voucher: students will need to purchase a MOS exam voucher for EACH exam attempt–including retakes. If a student chooses to retake a MOS exam for a better score, a new exam voucher is required.

The MOS testing software requires students to wait at least 24 hours to attempt the same exam after one failed attempt and 48 hours after two failed attempts–NO EXCEPTIONS; 700/1000 is a passing score.

2 QBCU Exam Voucher: Students will need to purchase a QBCU exam voucher for each QBCU (Desktop or Online) attempt. To retake an exam, students may purchase the reduced $50 QBCU retake exam voucher.

The Intuit testing software requires students to wait at least 24 hours to attempt the same exam after one failed attempt and 5 days after two failed attempts–NO EXCEPTIONS; 700/1000 is a passing score.

Testing sessions are currently being scheduled and proctored by the instructors of ACCT 323, BUED 425, and MISC 311
