Skill Building Through Clinical Experience<\/p>\n","primary_content_copy":"
The academic program includes two years of didactic education and six months of Level II Fieldwork (full-time internships in occupational therapy practice). Fieldwork Level I and Level II are an integral part of the educational program.<\/p>\n
Students are required to have an adult physical disability setting for one Level II Fieldwork and may choose a more specialized area for their second Level II Fieldwork. In support of the program’s mission, there is also a focus on placement in rural communities.<\/p>\n
Students must complete Level II Fieldwork within 24 months following completion of the didactic portion of the program. <\/strong>A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure. Serena Dewey is an occupational therapist whose clinical practice experience has primarily included work with the geriatric and pediatric populations. Her experience has included providing services in skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living facilities, school districts, and early intervention. She has completed research and worked for organizations to promote the emerging practice area of occupational therapy services addressing women’s health and wellness during the perinatal period.
