On Saturday, June 17, 2022, Eastern Washington University will celebrate the graduating class of 2023 at our annual all-campus commencement ceremonies.

Convention Center Directions and Parking: Directions | Parking – Spokane Convention Center (spokanecenter.com)

On-campus parking is FREE at the WSU/EWU Spokane campus and is a 10–15-minute walk to the ceremony along the Centennial Trail.  Please note there is NOT a shuttle to the ceremony.  Guest drop-off is available in front of the FICA/Ballrooom Breezeway.

Event parking (fee) is available at the Davenport Grand Hotel and the Doubletree Hotel.

When you arrive at the Convention Center, proceed to the First Interstate Center for the Arts (FICA) lobby for check-in.

Please leave any items that you will not need during the ceremony with your guests. You will not be able to return to the FICA lobby after the ceremony.

Remember the Clear Bag policy applies.

Please come dressed in your cap and gown. Wear shoes that are comfortable for walking and for using stairs. Carry your hood (if applicable).

Upon arrival, guests may proceed directly to the Ballroom for seating. Doors to the Ballroom will open at 8:30am and seating is first-come, first-serve. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person. The link is on this website.

A professional photographer will take at least one picture of each graduate as they receive their diploma cover. Graduates will be photographed with no obligation to purchase. Photos will be available for purchase through After Image Visual Services. Please visit their website 2-3 days after the ceremony to view a proof and provide your mailing address on the photo card at Check-in.

A limited number of flowers will be available for purchase in the Ballroom lobby. Flowers will be arranged by The Commencement Group and proceeds from the sale will benefit the EWU Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA).

To further contribute to a safe and efficient environment for graduates, guests, and faculty, we are strongly encouraging customers to take advantage of our online pre-order service. We will have a contact-free customer experience for guests who are simply picking up their pre-purchased and reserved product.

NO BALLOONS are permitted in the Convention Center.

The Eaglestore will be in the Ballroom Lobby selling Eagle Alumni gear and great Eagle gifts.

Coffee and snacks will be available for purchase in the Centennial Ballroom Lobby prior to the ceremony. Purchases are now cashless and will be processed using a contactless point of sale system (card or Apple Pay). Plexi-glass guards have been installed at all counters and individual containers will be used for the safety of our guests and employees.

Yes, you may participate in either the May or June ceremony (or both!).

No, you may only participate in the June ceremony.

To participate in the Commencement ceremony, you are expected to be dressed in appropriate graduation regalia.

Graduation attire is available for purchase from the Eagle Store beginning at the end of February until early June. Join the Eagle Store at their Grad Fair kick-off events. Grad Fair is an opportunity to order your cap and gown and purchase other graduation-related items.  There are usually fun contests, chances to win prizes and special discounts.
