Fun Facts About Georgia:<\/strong><\/h4>\nWhat was your first job, and what did you learn from it?<\/strong> I worked at Papa Murphy\u2019s and learned that there is not a limit to how much cheese you can truly eat. My real job that pertained to my love for graphic design and videography was a volunteer position as a rodeo queen.<\/p>\nWhat was your first undergraduate major?<\/strong> I was pre-med for dermatology with a focus on cancer research but through my travels and role as Miss Kitsap Fair & Stampede in 2019 I found my calling after picking up a camera and following my sister around the Puyallup Fair while she was attending the ProRodeo Tour finale in 2019.<\/p>\nThis led me to come home and immediately start looking at business degrees. I changed degrees because I found my passion for storytelling, and it allowed my creativity to always be the forefront of my work. Finding the balance of working to live not living to work was crucial to me.<\/p>\n
Joining the Career Services team has allowed me to do that and share Eastern\u2019s stories now as their office manager and part time social media guru.<\/p>\n

What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?\u00a0<\/strong>Albertsons Courtesy Clerk – I definitely learned how to communicate with customers. I\u2019m very thankful for all the opportunities I had to learn customer service, it has been the cornerstone for pretty much every job I\u2019ve had since.<\/p>\nWhat was your first undergraduate major?\u00a0<\/strong>Bachelor of Arts in History – I\u2019ve always had a fondness in History. I watched Indiana Jones as a kid and learning about things from the past instantly clicked with me, as I\u2019ve gotten older I had more of an appreciation to study for the things that I was passionate about!<\/p>\nWhat is one thing students might be surprised to learn about you?\u00a0<\/strong>My initial plan when I graduated high school was to attend the California Institute of the Arts school of Animation. After taking a tour of their facility and learning how miserable most of my favorite animators were while they attended, I decided to knee jerk reaction and join the Air Force instead.<\/p>\nWhat\u2019s your favorite memory from your college days?\u00a0<\/strong>Getting a chance to know the faculty, I built a lot of solid relationships with the professors, and it\u2019s been great working with them post-graduation!<\/p>\nWhat is something you regret not taking advantage of during college?\u00a0<\/strong>As a nontraditional student, I went to school when I was a bit older. What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?\u00a0<\/strong>My first job was as a lifeguard. I learned how to deal with conflict while remaining friendly when patrons were upset about being asked to follow pool rules.<\/p>\nWhat was your first undergraduate major?\u00a0<\/strong>My first major was music. I thought I wanted to be a music therapist, but I realized I didn’t enjoy practicing all the time and found some of the courses challenging in a way I didn’t expect, and the performance aspect wasn’t for me. I enjoyed psychology too and decided to change my major to that with the goal of being a mental health counselor one day.<\/p>\nWhat is something you regret not taking advantage of during college?\u00a0<\/strong>All of the opportunities offered through on-campus resources, clubs and organizations, and just general campus life. I was a commuter student and focused on completing my degree as fast as possible so if I didn’t have a class, I would head back to Spokane to go to work or do homework.<\/p>\nI wish I had gotten more involved on campus to build a\u00a0community and network. I also wish I had known that the Career Center existed, I could definitely have used the help with my graduate school applications!<\/p>\n

What was your first job, and what did you learn from it? <\/strong>My first job was at a daycare for preschool-aged kids, where I quickly learned that most problems can be solved with a snack, a nap, or just a little empathy. Honestly, that still applies to adults\u2014 myself included.<\/p>\nWhat was your first undergraduate major?\u00a0<\/strong>I originally wanted to go to school to be a Math Teacher – I really liked math and wanted to help others understand it so they could like it too – but then I learned you have to take like Calculus 3000 and decided it wasn’t for me.<\/p>\nI ended up taking a break from school for a bit, worked as a Costco Sample Lady for a couple years, and then came back. My goal was to get a Marketing degree, and then I was told I should consider a minor. I didn’t want to do anything like accounting or finance, so I looked at the catalog and found visual communication design. Soon after I started the first class, I realized how much I loved it, and decided that I should pursue two majors at the same time.<\/p>\n
What is something you regret not taking advantage of during college?\u00a0<\/strong>I regret not taking advantage of the opportunities on campus. I didn’t know about the Career Center, I thought an internship would be too hard to balance with classes and work (not realizing that it would replace one of my classes), and I also didn’t spend enough time building relationships with fellow students, faculty, staff, and alumni.<\/p>\nIf you are not in your office, where are you on campus?\u00a0<\/strong>Running around campus somewhere at an event, doing a workshop, or visiting a classroom.
