He is the author of the short-story collection\u00a0<em>Making Love While Levitating Three Feet in the Air<\/em>\u00a0(Stephen F. Austin State University Press, 2016), which was a finalist for the New Rivers Press MVP Award and the Permafrost Book Prize in Fiction. His fiction has appeared widely in journals and anthologies such as\u00a0<em>The Pinch<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Rosebud<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Many Mountains Moving<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Bayou Magazine<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Crab Orchard Review<\/em>, and\u2014most recently\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.storymagazine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Story<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<em>Fourteen Hills<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Pacific Review<\/em>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/scholar.valpo.edu\/vfr\/vol5\/iss2\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Valparaiso Fiction Review<\/em><\/a>, and\u00a0<em>Everywhere Stories: Short Fiction from a Small Planet<\/em>\u00a0(Press 53, 2014).<\/p>\n<p>Jeff\u2019s essays and poems have also appeared in many publications, including\u00a0<em>The Fourth River, New Madrid, Permafrost, The Los Angeles Review, Clackamas Literary Review, Potomac Review, The Chalk Circle: Intercultural Prizewinning Essays<\/em>(MacKenzie Publishing, 2012), and\u00a0<em>Forest Under Story: A Decade of Creative Inquiry in an Old-Growth Forest<\/em>\u00a0(University of Washington Press, 2016). His writing has been nominated for Best New American Voices and three times for a Pushcart Prize, and he is the recipient of a 2015 Individual Artist Fellowship award from the Oregon Arts Commission. Jeff has taught writing and literature for many years at the Academy of Languages in Kazakhstan, Washington State University, Western Kentucky University, Prescott College, and currently Oregon State University.
