What an amazing and diverse experience it has been!<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what I\u2019ve been up to since\u00a0taking\u00a0to life\u00a0on the road:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I am working on the manuscript for my first book, which is about social innovation and change-making in Spokane, WA and focuses on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/community-building.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Community Building<\/a>. Many thanks to my friends and colleagues in Spokane for making it possible for me to work remotely this year!<\/li>\n<li>I have a book chapter forthcoming through the WAC Clearinghouse and the University Press of Colorado titled\u00a0<em>Writing in the Performing and Visual Arts: Creating, Performing, and Teaching<\/em>. The chapter is called \u201cVisual Thinking Strategies in the Composition Classroom.\u201d I am grateful for Justin Young of Eastern Washington University and Heidi Arbogast of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture and their assistance on this manuscript.<\/li>\n<li>I am still serving\u00a0EWU students through the Writers\u2019 Center\u00a0online services.<\/li>\n<li>Keeping close to my\u00a0love of the outdoors and the Inland Northwest, I continue to contribute writing to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FieldandCompass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Field &amp; Compass<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.outtheremonthly.com\/author\/summerhess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Out There Monthly<\/a>.
