Maya Jewell Zeller<\/strong>, EWU MFA alum 2007, is the author of\u00a0Rust Fish<\/em>\u00a0(which came out of her thesis project);\u00a0Yesterday, the Bees<\/em>;\u00a0Alchemy for Cells & Other Beasts<\/i>\u00a0(a collaboration with visual artist Carrie DeBacker); and the forthcoming\u00a0out takes\/ glove box<\/i>, chosen by Eduardo Corral for the New American Poetry Prize; she is also co-editor, with Sharma Shields, of the multi-genre anthology\u00a0Evergreen: Grim Tales & Verses From the Gloomy Northwest\u00a0<\/i>(Scablands, 2021); and co-author of the textbook\u00a0Advanced Poetry: A Writer\u2019s Guide and Anthology<\/i>\u00a0(Bloomsbury UK; January 2024).<\/p>\n

Maya\u2019s poems and essays appear in such journals as\u00a0The Rumpus<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0Pleiades<\/em><\/i>,\u00a0Bellingham Review<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0West Branch<\/em>,\u00a0Cincinnati Review<\/em>, and\u00a0High Desert Journal<\/em><\/a>; her memoir, \u201cRaised by Ferns,\u201d was runner-up in the 2022 AWP Sue Silverman Award for Creative Nonfiction. She has been a resident in the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, recipient of a Promise Award from the Sustainable Arts Foundation, and honored with awards from\u00a0Crab Orchard Review<\/em>,\u00a0New Ohio Review<\/em>,\u00a0New South<\/em>,\u00a0Sycamore Review<\/em>,\u00a0Dogwood<\/em>, & elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Maya is Associate Professor at Central Washington University, as well as Affiliate Faculty in the Poetry and Nature Writing low-residency Programs for Western Colorado University.
