Dr. Anderson obtained his PhD in Geography from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and holds an MA in Geography and Environmental Studies from Northeastern Illinois University. His research interests, broadly speaking, are focused on the political economy of the city, the politics of water provision and governance in the American northwest, and critical social and spatial theory. In each case, he examines emergence and evolution, particularly in terms of the ways in which communities and governing institutions are responding to rapidly changing socio-political, economic, and environmental realities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"color: black\">His recent research examines the dynamics of rent and processes of housing commodification in Portland and Seattle, and currently, in Kyoto, Japan and Copenhagen, Denmark. He is also examining the <\/span><span style=\"color: black\">politics and spatial management of homelessness and widening inequality in Portland, Seattle, and Spokane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a
