The Africana Studies Program hosts numerous activities and events throughout the year, including Black History Month, lecture series, a Civil Rights Tour, and more.<\/p>\n
1,000 Mile Civil Rights Tour<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","blocks":[{"acf_fc_layout":"two-column-explicit","module_background_color":"off-white","include_header":true,"include_images":false,"intro_title":"Civil Rights Tour","intro_title_style":"h2","sub_heading":"Be a Part of the Next 1,000 Mile Civil Rights Tour","intro_title_position":"centered","include_intro_copy":true,"intro_copy":" Students attended a once-a-week class, AAST 496 to get familiarized with the history of America’s post-World War II Civil Rights period.<\/p>\n As a culmination to the course requirements, the entire class goes on a Deep South Civil Rights Tour during Spring Break to the major Civil Rights landmarks. By journeying over 1,000 miles in seven days through five states and 22 stops, students experienced eyewitness testimonies of the fight for racial equality. The course throughout involved daily journaling and led up to several class presentations.<\/p>\n When: TBD<\/p>\n Cost:\u00a0To be determined. Students will have to pay a non-refundable deposit of $150 required as a down payment.
