Sponsored by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity (Zeta Nu chapter) at EWU, this scholarship honors First Lieutenant Randy Turner, an EWU ROTC graduate and Silver Star recipient who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1969. Established in 2018 by his fraternity brothers, the scholarship provides one year of tuition to selected EWU ROTC Cadets. Awards began in the 2019-2020 academic year.<\/p>\n
Criteria for the Randy Van Turner ROTC Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- ROTC student<\/li>\n
- Preference for students enrolled in simultaneous membership programs (National Guard or Reserves)<\/li>\n
- Demonstrated financial need<\/li>\n
- Minimum GPA of 2.5<\/li>\n
- Sophomore standing or higher<\/li>\n
- Preference given to students majoring in a STEM or Health Sciences program<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Cadets that meet the above criteria then participate in a board held by the EWU ROTC Cadre and a university representative to determine who will receive a scholarship.\u00a0 Cadets’ grades, physical fitness, leadership potential, and ability to answer questions are all considered by the board when selecting Randy Van Turner ROTC Scholarship recipients. Sponsored by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity (Zeta Nu chapter) at EWU, this scholarship honors First Lieutenant Randy Turner, an EWU ROTC graduate and Silver Star recipient who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1969. Established in 2018 by his fraternity brothers, the scholarship provides one year of tuition to selected EWU ROTC Cadets. Awards began in the 2019-2020 academic year.<\/p>\n\n
