criminal justice outside the United States.\u00a0 As a result, she teaches Comparative Criminal Justice Systems which also introduces students to current issues with transnational crime such as cyber-crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorism. \u00a0Prior to getting her Ph.D., she worked in aviation security and as a legal assistant for a private law I retired after a 30-year career in law enforcement. I spent 10 years on patrol and 20 years as a detective. During that time, I was fortunate enough to work on all types of crimes from property crimes to homicide. I obtained my Doctorate from Gonzaga University prior to retiring. Additionally, I taught as an adjunct many years ago with EWU, then as 1\/2-time faculty at Gonzaga University for a total of 12 years during my LE career. Once I retired, I knew that teaching was my new calling. I taught at Washburn University in Topeka, KS for 4 years prior to coming to EWU.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that my experiences and education allow me to impart some measure of real-life into my courses. Law enforcement is not for everyone as a career, but I feel it is very important for everyone to be educated on policing since we live in a society that has a social contract that provides police with certain abilities.
