The Theatre Program is designed to thoroughly prepare you for all aspects of theatre. Whether you want to be on stage or backstage, we have courses for you. We offer valuable hands-on experience in virtually every phase of theatrical production, including acting, directing, singing, costuming, and a myriad of technical and design skills.<\/p>\n
EWU Theatre Curriculum Brochure (pdf)<\/a><\/p>\n Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce,\u00a0Something Rotten<\/em>.\u00a0 Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O\u2019Farrell,\u00a0Something Rotten<\/em>\u00a0was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by\u00a0Time Out New York<\/em>\u00a0as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years”.<\/p>\n Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world\u2019s very first musical. Bryan (1963-2009) graduated from EWU and was a passionate WATE member and very active in the Spokane Theatre Community. Bryan expressed the desire to become a high school teacher as early as the 10th<\/sup> grade. He joined the Spokane School District in 1990. For the last 14 years of his life, Bryan taught English and Drama at Lewis & Clark High School, serving for several years as head of the LCHS Drama Department.<\/p>\n This will be a very meaningful scholarship for deserving EWU Theatre Majors and a very special way to remember Bryan Jackson who loved teaching and saw potential in every student.
