Scholarship Opportunities

Modern Language & Literature students are awarded approximately $5,530 in scholarships each year—just one part of the $9.7 million EWU awards annually to nearly 1,500 students through a single scholarship application. Scholarships aren’t just for top GPAs or athletes—they’re based on your major, background, community service, and more. And the best part? Scholarships are free money you don’t have to pay back.

The EWU General Scholarship Application for the academic year opens Nov. 1 and closes Feb. 1.

Yarwood Robertson Wellman Modern Languages Scholarship

To be eligible for the Yarwood Robertson Wellman Modern Languages Scholarship, you must take at least one 300/400 level class in ESL or Spanish in Fall 2025 (or Winter 2025, if no 300/400-level class in your area is available for you, due to a time conflict or another reason). Spanish Education students who have completed the language component of their degree but are taking a 400-level class in Education in Fall 2025 may also apply.

A minimum of $400, depending on qualifications, will be awarded.

Your application must be submitted by Friday, May 23, 2025.
