Economics students are awarded approximately $6,000 in scholarships each year—just one part of the $9.7 million EWU awards annually to nearly 1,500 students through a single scholarship application. Scholarships aren’t just for top GPAs or athletes—they’re based on your major, background, community service, and more. And the best part? Scholarships are free money you don’t have to pay back.
The EWU General Scholarship Application for the academic year opens Nov. 1 and closes Feb. 1.
In addition to the general application, the Economics department offers an additional scholarship below.

Requirements
Students applying for the scholarships must meet the following criteria:
- Be a full-time student at Eastern Washington University during the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Demonstrate academic merit
- Be a declared major in economics; and
- Demonstrate financial need
To apply, complete the form below. As part of the application process, you will be asked to upload a one-page letter outlining career goals, financial need, brief personal information, and how you will use the EWU academic school year to reach your goals.
The Economics Department faculty will review applications and select the final recipients.
