Civil Rights Tour
Be a Part of the Next 1,000 Mile Civil Rights Tour
Students attended a once-a-week class, AAST 496 to get familiarized with the history of America’s post-World War II Civil Rights period.
As a culmination to the course requirements, the entire class goes on a Deep South Civil Rights Tour during Spring Break to the major Civil Rights landmarks. By journeying over 1,000 miles in seven days through five states and 22 stops, students experienced eyewitness testimonies of the fight for racial equality. The course throughout involved daily journaling and led up to several class presentations.

Cost: To be determined. Students will have to pay a non-refundable deposit of $150 required as a down payment. Airfare, hotels, all ground transportation, meals, and museum fees will be included in one bundled price.
Who: 20 students will be selected after a panel review based on submission of application and essay.

Five credits, meeting once a week during the quarter, culminating in a seven-day experiential learning tour of the Deep South’s Civil Rights landmarks and museums in the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Montgomery, AL; New Orleans, LA; Jackson, MS; Memphis, TN; and Birmingham, AL.
