Welcome Week

My first advise will be that try as much as possible to attend every new student event that is required because it will save you a lot. My second advise is do not be an island and talk to people when you need any help. The final one is enjoy every bit of your stay as an eagle because it will not be here forever.

My main advice for upcoming ewu students is to have fun. This sounds a little cliche but there is a ton to do at eastern and a ton more even seniors like me haven’t seen with the stress of school or tuition having fun is key. So my advice is to go to events and have fun doing what you like or even branching out and finding new things you like.

Be sure to make at least 1 friend in each of your classes! It can really help a lot to have someone to study with and can also make class a little bit more fun.

Don’t be afraid to say yes! Be open to new activities, experiences, and people. You never know how it will affect your college experience!

Becoming a new student at a college might seem stressful and sound overwhelming but i assure you Eastern has great resources and a lot of help and guidance when you need it. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help and join clubs, sports team, and activities Eastern provide. Put yourself out their and have fun!

Communicate with your teachers! They are generally more understanding than you think.

Remember, college is a time of exploration, self- discovery, and growth. Embrace the opportunities that come your way and make the most of this exciting chapter in your life. Good luck!

College is scary, and it’s important that you have friends who will help you this new experience! Attend campus events, even if you’re nervous – you will find friends.

One of the greatest pieces of advice I could give to new students is to practice asking intentional and thoughtful questions. When you are creating new relationships with individuals on campus, think about what you want to know about them and how they could add to your college experience. The same principle applies to guest speakers in the classroom, professors, leaders of clubs, EWU faculty, and when reaching out to people to network.

As you navigate the life as an Eastern Eagle, make friends! Finding people from similar majors is super important to bond with for mental heath and for future study groups. If you can’t find friends during welcome week, don’t worry you will find friends in class!

Get involved in the community in anyway you can. Show up to games, open club meetings, club and org fairs, and other events being hosted. Put yourself out there.

Enjoy your time at Eastern; it goes by so fast! Don’t be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone; you never know what can happen! Get involved, especially with the activities going on surrounding your major. It is a great way to make friends and valuable connections!

Take it day by day and don’t rush into things, college is the time to have fun and get to know yourself and others. Don’t forget to have fun!

Keep your mind open, you will experience struggle and frustration. This can either break you or transform you.

The best advice I can give to the incoming class is this: Focus on your academics and get involved on campus. The rest will take care of itself.

Don’t be afraid to try new things since these things will help you find yourself and even help you become a well-rounded individual.

Don’t be afraid of change! If you change your major, that’s okay! I have changed my major multiple times and I am finally doing what I am most passionate about!

It is so important to get out of your major or focus of study and get involved on campus. There’s Greek life, ASEWU (Student Government), and over 100 clubs or activities to be apart of. If I had never been apart of anything on campus I would have never gotten to know the people I know now.

The advice I would give to incoming Eagles is to have grace with themselves. There are many things you will be learning along the way and it is okay to ask for help. Finally, learn how to manage your time and be open to be meeting new people.

Hi, incoming eagles! My advice is to get involved, chase after opportunities, and enjoy this time in your life. Starting college can be exciting and scary, say hi to your fellow eagles, share a smile, and remember they are new to this just like you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, there are resources and people all around, who are here to help. Lastly, have fun and enjoy this special part of your life!!

Don’t forget to have fun! Starting at a new school can be stressful and overwhelming. Remember that there are so many people at the school who want to help you and see you succeed. Spend these next few years making memories that will last a lifetime. Put yourself out there to meet new people. Join a club, go to school activities, make good relationships with other students and your professors. A smile and simple hello can go a long way 🙂
